Lato Sensu Post-graduation Courses

The Industrial Era is ending, the Information Era is beginning. Intangible knowledge is today more important than the physical capital. And to use the Internet (an Open University) to acquire knowledge is more and more a common procedure.

History - Our Open University began his operations in Brazil in 1997, under the name of Open University J.C. Melo. In June 2001 we transferred our operations to the United States beginning our international operations with the new name America Open University of Miami, also offering now the same Courses in Spanish and English for Students of the entire world, besides the Courses in Portuguese.

But really the begin of our Open University it is much older, because it was our old holding company J.C. Melo Consultoria Técnica that during more than 10 years trained more than 1500 college graduated engineers of great Brazilian companies (Furnas, Chesf, Petrobrás, Embratel, Cemig, Usiminas, and many others) supplying special courses on process control systems with computers, in reality the first courses on that matter in Brazil.

The courses below in computer science and through Internet are the first of this Open University, of masters degree level but nor of formal masters degree graduation. They are Lato Sensu Post-graduation courses.

Methodology - About the methodology, we preferred to create an own one and not to use the existent WBT Web Based Training packages, because of the necessary inter-activity between us and the Students. Like this being, a lesson is sent by e-mail and the Student is entitled (and that is strongly recommended) of sending your questions, that are answered individually (exactly that is what the WBT packages don't have). And in every 4 lessons a test is answered by the Student, using the Internet, and all negative answers are commented obligatorily by our Teachers through e-mails answered in a maximum of 72 hours. It is a simple methodology, but very effective because of his great inter-activity, and this is the most important point in a distance course.

CIO CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

In 16 weeks (two classes per week) or in 8 weeks (four classes per week). CIO is the highest professional level among the professions related with the computer science. This Course also includes lessons on an Enterprise (Electronic) Resources Planning ERP in a conceptual way and without connection with any specific System. In reality we recommended this Course as fundamental for the managers of any ERP project, not specifically because of the lessons on ERPs but yes for the important concepts of a CIO taught during the whole course. Includes unpublished matters on Internet Marketing Engineering IME and Dynamic Sites type Database-Driven.

IME INTERNET MARKETING ENGINEERING

In 16 weeks (a lesson per week) or 8 weeks (two lessons per week). Internet is a new media, the one of most future among the existent midias. The course teaches as to do and at a low cost, besides including unpublished matters on Internet Marketing Engineering IME and Dynamic Sites type Database-Driven.
